Golf Backswing Tips
Question about my golf swing..?
I have always struggled keeping the angle in my golf swing on my downswing. Like, my backswing is fine. But when it comes to my downswing, I just cant hold the angle. Like i’m coming down and i’m casting my arms out. During the summer I got my 8 iron back up to 150 yards, but never fixed the angle, I just started trapping the ball at impact. But that’s not working anymore. So can anyone give me some tips on how to hold the angle on my downswing and help me quit casting my arms out. Thanks..
You are unclear as to which angle you are talking about. It sounds like you are talking about the club/arm angle, or hinge on the way down.
If that is the case, actively trying to hold it is a big mistake. Once the downswing starts you aren’t going to be able to significantly change it.
Think of it this way, “The downswing is the product of the backswing”.
That means that there is probably something in your backswing, setup, etc. causing you to cast the club from the top. This could be any number of things…
Honestly the best piece of advice here is to get to a PGA Professional instructor. They can help you out easily and the money is worth much more than any piece of equipment ever will be.
Hope this helps, and good luck.
